Who we are

The site voxviet.com (VoxViet) is a platform about life in Vietnam: housing, listings, services, jobs, transport, tours, meetups, a forum, articles and news. Posts are published by users themselves, including partners, realtors and agencies.

The personal data operator is DENI-GRUPP LLC (INN 5007117448, OGRN 1225000122390), address: office 410, 5 Professionalnaya St., Dmitrov, Moscow Region, 141800, Russia. The person responsible for personal data processing is the general director, Daniel Sergeevich Krokhmal.

Write to [email protected] with any question about your data.

What data we receive

  • When you register: your name, email and password (the password is stored only as a hash — we never see the password itself).
  • If you sign in with Google: the name, email and photo from your Google account, and technical sign-in data from Google.
  • In your profile, if you fill it in: photo, phone number, Telegram, WhatsApp, city, a text about yourself and what interests you on the site. Realtors and agencies also give company details, experience, specialisation, licence number and an email for requests.
  • What you publish yourself: properties (with address and photos), listings, services, jobs, meetups, forum topics and messages, reviews, articles, complaints, blacklist reports. The contacts you write in a post as well.
  • When you book: dates, number of guests, the amount and your message to the owner.
  • In an owner's request and the contact form: your name, contacts and what you wrote.
  • In a partnership application: the business's name and description, its field, size, the expected number of listings a month, the account's email and a Telegram or WhatsApp username or number.
  • If you have an account: your consent to data processing and to the newsletter, with the date you gave it.
  • The consent in an owner's request and in a partnership application is stored with the request, with the date and the version of the text you agreed to. The consent in the contact form is stored as a separate record: the contact as you typed it, the date and the version of the text; the message itself is not in that record.
  • Technical data: IP address, page address, browser type and time of the request — in the server log and to limit the number of attempts to sign in, register and send forms.
  • If you pressed «Accept» in the cookie banner: Yandex Metrica receives the addresses of the pages you open, where you came from, your device and browser type, an approximate location from the IP address, clicks and scrolling, and a recording of your actions on the page (Webvisor). The text you type into form fields and your keystrokes are not recorded. Metrica does not count the cabinet and administration pages.
  • We re-compress the photos you upload: shooting data, including geotags, does not get into the saved file.
  • Your Meet people profile, if you create one: name, photos, date of birth, gender, city, what you would like to do, a text about yourself and contacts — whichever of Telegram, WhatsApp, Zalo and Instagram you give. Also whom you marked Interested or Skip, your matches (mutual interest) and whom you blocked.

Why

We process data with your consent: for an account you give it with a separate tick at registration or at first sign-in, in an owner's request, a partnership application and the contact form with a tick by the send button. Purposes of processing:

  • Running your account, sign-in and cabinet.
  • Showing your posts and the contacts in them to people looking for them.
  • Passing your booking request to the property owner and telling you its status.
  • Replying to the request or message you sent.
  • Emails about your actions on the site: email confirmation, password reset, bookings.
  • The site's newsletter — only if you agreed to it. You can unsubscribe through the link in any newsletter email or in your profile.
  • Visit statistics: which pages people view and where the site is hard to use — only if you pressed «Accept» in the cookie banner.
  • Protecting the site from abuse: limiting how often sign-in and forms can be tried, handling complaints.

What other users see

Public pages of the site are open to everyone and appear in search engines.

Your email, bookings, favourites, saved searches and requests are not visible to other users; the exception is the booking data the property owner receives.

  • Next to your posts: your name and profile photo.
  • Partners have the «VoxViet partner» badge next to their name on their posts.
  • If you publish housing, its page shows the phone number, Telegram and WhatsApp from your profile.
  • A realtor's public card shows their name, photo, company, experience, specialisation, WhatsApp, text about themselves, licence number, city and reviews.
  • Listings, services and jobs show the contacts you put in them.
  • A meetup page shows the organiser and participants (name and photo).
  • After a moderator checks a blacklist report, it shows the name and contact of the person it is about and the name of its author.
  • Your Meet people profile — name, age, photos, gender, city, activities and the text about yourself — is seen only by signed-in users who have a profile of their own; its contacts only by the person whose interest turned out to be mutual. Your date of birth is not shown to other users, only your age.

Who we pass data to

We do not sell data and do not pass it to advertising networks. Data is received by the services the site runs on — each gets what its task needs — and by the owners of the properties you book:

  • The hosting provider (Sweden, EU) — all the site's data: the site and its database run on its server.
  • Cloudflare (USA) — the network the site runs through: every request to the site passes through it, including the IP address, cookies and form contents. Emails to @voxviet.com addresses are forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing.
  • Cloudflare R2 (USA) — backups of the database and of uploaded photos.
  • Google (USA) — sign-in data, if you sign in with Google. If your profile photo comes from Google, it loads from Google's servers, and they see the visitor's IP address.
  • Gmail (Google, USA) — the site's mail: emails the site sends to you, to property owners and to the team go out through Gmail, and emails to @voxviet.com addresses arrive in Gmail.
  • YouTube (Google, USA) — video previews in the blog and in cards load from YouTube's servers, and they see the visitor's IP address.
  • OpenStreetMap (United Kingdom) — map images load from their servers, and they see the visitor's IP address and the part of the map being viewed.
  • Yandex Metrica (YANDEX LLC, Russia) — visit statistics and recordings of actions on the site, only if you pressed «Accept» in the cookie banner.
  • The property owner — an agency and its managers, a realtor or an owner: when you book housing, they receive your name, email, phone number, dates, number of guests and message, by email and in their cabinet.
  • Government authorities — when the law requires it.

Where data is stored

Data is stored outside Russia: the site's server is in Sweden (EU), backups are in Cloudflare R2 (USA), mail is in Gmail (USA). Every request to the site passes through the Cloudflare network. The exception is Yandex Metrica statistics, if you agreed to them: they are processed by YANDEX LLC (Russia).

The consent to data processing you give at registration includes storing your data and transferring it outside your country of residence.

How long we keep data

  • Account data — while the account exists. Listings, services and properties — until you (in your cabinet) or the site administration delete them. Jobs, meetups, reviews and forum topics — until the site administration deletes them; forum messages — until the topic they are in is deleted.
  • Bookings — also after the property or the account is deleted: this is the history of the deal for the other party.
  • Owners' requests, together with the consent stored in the request — until the site administration deletes them.
  • Partnership applications, together with the consent — until the site administration deletes them or you delete your account.
  • The IP address for limiting attempts — up to an hour.
  • Database backups — no longer than 30 days, both on the server and in the Cloudflare R2 backup storage: then they are deleted automatically.
  • Copies of uploaded photos may be kept after a photo is removed from the site: on the server, in the backup storage and in the Cloudflare cache, and the photo may still open by its direct link. We delete them on request to [email protected].
  • Messages from the contact form are not saved in the database: they arrive by email at [email protected].
  • The record of consent in the contact form (the contact, the date, the version of the text) stays in the database until you ask us to delete it by email to [email protected].
  • Emails the site sent to you, to property owners and to the team stay in the recipients' mailboxes.
  • Your Meet people profile, your marks and your matches — as long as it exists; you can delete it yourself whenever you like on the My profile page. Blocks stay after the profile is deleted, until you lift them. A note that the section is closed to you stays until the site administration lifts it.

Cookies

The site uses a cookie to keep you signed in (no longer than 30 days from sign-in) and the sign-in form's service cookies. If you sign in with Google, one more cookie remembers the page's language for a day so that a new account gets this language. The site's language comes from the page address.

Yandex Metrica and its cookies (for example, _ym_uid and _ym_d) are turned on only if you press «Accept» in the cookie banner. If you press «Decline», Metrica is not loaded. The choice is stored in your browser, and you can change it here: change your choice. If you decline after agreeing, Metrica's cookies on this site are removed.

There are no advertising cookies.

Your rights

  • See and correct your profile data — in your profile.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter — through the link in any newsletter email or with the switch in your profile.
  • Sign out on all devices — in your profile.
  • Delete your listings, services and properties — in your cabinet. To delete your meetup or job, write to [email protected].
  • To find out what data about you is stored, correct or delete it, delete your account or withdraw your consent to processing, write to [email protected] from the address your account is registered to.

Deleting your account

You cannot delete your account yourself on the site: write to [email protected], and the site administration will delete or anonymise it.

If no bookings, reviews, posts or other records are linked to the account, it is deleted completely. Otherwise the account is anonymised: the name is replaced with a placeholder (“Deleted user”, shown in Russian), the email with a service address; the password, phone number, photo, text about yourself, messengers, company details, partnership applications and Google sign-in are deleted, the partner code is revoked, and the account can no longer be signed in to.

Posts and bookings stay under that placeholder name. The contacts you wrote in listings, services and jobs themselves are not erased — delete listings and services beforehand in your cabinet, and ask us in your email to delete jobs. City, meetup participation, likes and article bookmarks also stay, and for realtors, experience, specialisation and rating. Copies of photos are deleted on request — see “How long we keep data”.

Database backups are kept for no longer than 30 days, both on the server and in the Cloudflare R2 backup storage, and then deleted automatically. We do not bring deleted data back from them: the copies are for restoring the site after a failure. If the database has to be restored from a copy, data deleted after that copy's date may come back — then we delete it again.

Who may use the site

Anyone who, under the law of their country, may independently enter into the transactions they make through the platform may use VoxViet. If this requires the consent of a parent or guardian, the user obtains it themselves. More in the Terms of use.
